Music preview: Chestermere Water Festival

Chestermere’s largest festival is around the corner and Water Festival has something for everyone! Come out and enjoy everything the day has to offer, including amazing local artists featured at the Summer Music Showcase. These talented musicians will delight listeners with a mix of rock, bass, blues and country. Following over eight hours of live music right on the shores of Chestermere Lake, the day finishes with our headliner: Country star Drew Gregory!

Summer Music Showcase schedule:

12:00 p.m. National Band Naval Reserve: The Showcase will begin with a 30 piece marching band in the common area.

1:00 p.m. Rock Vegas: A Chestermere/Calgary band who plays classic rock, pop, and country rock tunes spanning several decades.

2:30 p.m. Eve Hell: A female fronted retro-rock band piece rooted in rockabilly that branches out into Americana, rock and roll, psychobilly and garage/roots rock. They have played festivals like The Calgary Tattoo Fest, JunoFest, Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender, The Calgary Folk Fest and more.

3:45 p.m. The Future Relics: Acoustic funk rock with a touch of blues The Future Relics are a Calgary band that make you want to dance all night with a never ending list of songs and a passion for soul searching lyrics and steady rhythms.

5:00 p.m.Jason Hastie and the Alibi: A creative and energetic country band whose first album hit the #1 spot on iTunes for Canadian Country Album. They have also performed at the CMA Music Festival in Nashville and the Calgary Stampede.

7:00 p.m.Taken by Sanity: An energetic, three piece band that brings pop and rock together to form an amazing blend of music. There will be a lot of involvement with the crowd, so don't be afraid to dance!

8:00 p.m. Blueswak: A Calgary based blues group who have become a staple on the local scene. Formed 12 years ago, the group covers blues styles from the Mississippi delta to hard-driving Texas blues.

9:30 p.m. Headliner: Drew Gregory: Originally from the small town of Standard, Drew has played the main stage at Big Valley Jamboree and was awarded the ACMA Male Artist of the Year in 2015. In addition to being a country star, he is still committed to his roots as an active member of the local Agricultural Society, hockey and baseball team, and continues to assist on the family farm. Between multiple appearances this year at the Calgary Stampede, he will be making a stop in Chestermere for Water Festival!

Events throughout the day are located in John Peake Park (100 John Morris Way). The Summer Music Showcase will be located at the Pavilion Stage.
