10 ways to spend your day at Chestermere’s Water Festival

Chestermere’s annual Water Festival is Saturday, July 16. Come down to John Peake Park and enjoy the wide variety of family friendly activities.

Don’t miss these ten fantastic ways to spend the day:

1. Watch the wakeboard competition

Wakeboarders of all levels will be showing off their skills at the annual wakeboard competition hosted by Water Ski Wakeboard Alberta. Check them out at 9 a.m. on the north side of Chestermere Lake. July 14 is the deadline to sign up if you want to brave the waves.

2. Indulge in tasty treats

What is a summer festival without delicious food truck fare? Come hungry and enjoy mini donuts, shawarmas, ice cream and more!

3. Take a boat tour

Boat tours start at noon and run every 20 minutes until 4 p.m. This is a great chance to catch some rays, sit back and enjoy the festival on the water! Tours take place at the Chestermere Landing Dockside Marina at the Hyperactive Watersports Boat House. Rides are $5 per person.

4. Have a blast with your kids

Bring your kids to the EPCOR Kids Fun Zone where they can have their face painted, enjoy a super slide, tackle the obstacle course, and expend the rest of their energy at the pirate bounce house.

5. Catch up with Captain Jack

Kids (and adults) are always delighted with the magic tricks and comical antics of popular children’s entertainer Captain Jack. Catch his performance and a picture with him at
1:30 p.m. in the Kids Fun Zone.

6. Find a new treasure at the Artisan Market

Support local artisans and businesses at the Artisan Market. There will be a variety of vendors selling jewelry, pottery and other local gems!

7. Race a rubber duck

Take part in a rubber duck race in Rainbow Falls at 4 p.m. You can purchase a duck from the Synergy booth at the Water Festival Artisan Market for $5 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. All proceeds go to Synergy youth programming. Races will be in Olympic style heats with awesome prizes for the winners!

8. Quench your thirst at the Beer Gardens

Wine and beer will be served at the Chestermere Lions’ Beer Gardens starting at noon. Enjoy some beverages with friends in the Park until 11 p.m. Proof of identification is required (no minors).

9. Enjoy the Summer Music Showcase

Enjoy over eight hours of live rock, pop, blues and country music on the shores of Chestermere Lake. To complete the day, we are excited to welcome back our headliner: country music star Drew Gregory. Get the full listing of artists and performance times at www.chestermere.ca/waterfestival.

10. Be amazed by the fireworks display

Who needs to wait until the next holiday for fireworks? Enjoy a spectacular light display launched right from Chestermere Lake. After a day full of events and activities, sit back and take in the amazing fireworks show at dusk.
