"I am pleased to let you know that the City of Chestermere has received a decision from the Government of Alberta indicating that, following their receipt and subsequent review of a 2016 petition, an investigation is not necessary.
Throughout the past few months, City Council and Administration responded to requests for additional information from Municipal Affairs as they undertook a preliminary review. That review has now concluded.
The Minister has indicated that he appreciates the efforts of City Council to strengthen the utility rate setting and regulatory processes. You can read the Minister’s letter here.
Our entire organization took the matters residents brought forward very seriously. In listening to those concerns, we took proactive steps to enhance our communication methods, the utility rate-setting process and more. We appreciated that the Minister indicated his satisfaction in the approach and actions taken.
As an organization and Council, we are confident that we operate to best serve our community with professionalism, transparency and openness. We will continue to make decisions in the best interests of Chestermereians and work with the highest level of integrity.
On behalf of Council, and as a long-time resident, I want to reiterate that we genuinely value your feedback as we grow this great city together. We encourage you to continue to get involved and provide your perspective to make a positive impact. Together we can make Chestermere an even better place to live and work."
