Music preview: Chestermere Water Festival

Enjoy over eight hours of live rock, pop, blues and country music on the shores of Chestermere Lake at the annual Chestermere Water Festival on July 22.

Summer Music Showcase schedule:

1:00 p.m. Rock Vegas:  A Chestermere/Calgary band who play classic rock, pop, and country rock tunes spanning several decades.

2:30 p.m. Eve Hell: A female fronted retro-rock band rooted in rockabilly that branch out into Americana, rock and roll, psychobilly and garage/roots rock. Their festival history includes the Calgary Tattoo Fest, JunoFest, Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender, Calgary Folk Fest and more.

3:45 p.m. Blacksmith Jones: A Calgary based rock band showcasing hard hitting originals and crowd-pleasing rhythms. This group highlights rock anthems in their purest form.

5:00 p.m. Jason Hastie and the Alibi: A creative and energetic country band whose first album hit the #1 spot on iTunes for Canadian Country Album. They have also performed at the CMA Music Festival in Nashville and the Calgary Stampede.

7:30 p.m. BlueswakA Calgary based blues group who have become a staple on the local scene. Formed 13 years ago, the group covers blues styles from the Mississippi delta to hard-driving Texas blues.

9:00 p.m. Headliner: Kirby Sewell Band: An award winning band from Calgary whose unique combination of blues, rock, gospel, country and soul music command the stage. The band’s recent accolades include the 2015 Maple Blues New Artist of the Year Award and a nomination for the 2015 Male Vocalist of the Year. The Summer Music Showcase will be located at the Pavilion Stage.

Other events throughout the day include the Wakeboard Competition, EPCOR Kids Fun Zone, Artisan Market, Lake Tours, Beer Gardens and fireworks. All events are located in John Peake Park (100 John Morris Way). The Lake Tours will be at the Chestermere Landing Dockside Marina.
