Returning Officer appointed for 2017 Election

Following a hiring process conducted by Administration, Council has appointed Susan McMahon as the Returning Officer for the 2017 Chestermere Municipal Election this October.

“We are very pleased to welcome Ms. McMahon as our Returning Officer,” said Tracy Buteau, Interim Chief Administrative Officer for the City of Chestermere. “We trust that she will effectively execute all of her duties and ensure a fair and transparent election for the citizens of Chestermere.”

Ms. McMahon comes to Chestermere with a broad range of election experience having administered multiple provincial and federal elections.

Candidates are not considered official candidates until their nomination papers have been accepted on Nomination Day, September 18, 2017, but potential candidates who wish to accept campaign contributions must register with the municipality. A list of currently registered candidates is available on the City’s website.

Residents will be able to vote on the following days:

  • Saturday, October 7, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, October 14, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
  • Monday, October 16, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

All voting stations will be held at the Chestermere Recreation Centre (201 West Chestermere Drive)
