At approximately 8:00 a.m. this morning, Chestermere Fire Services (CFS) was called to the Oakmere neighbourhood and responded to a vehicle on fire in a driveway that was threatening the nearby house. While there was slight damage to the exterior of the home, the homeowners are safe and the remainder of the home is intact.
“The fire started in the vehicle on the homeowner’s driveway. Our crews worked efficiently to contain the fire and we are pleased we could contain it before spreading into the home,” said Chestermere Fire Chief Brian Pomrenke.
CFS would like to thank nearby residents for avoiding the area and allowing crews to work.
When crews are on scene responding to an incident, always avoid the area to allow emergency vehicle access. As a reminder: when you see smoke, dial 9-1-1.
