Rural Housing and Service Needs Estimation Project

The City of Chestermere’s Family and Community Resource Centre in partnership with the Chestermere Regional Food Bank, Synergy, and the Chestermere Public Library are participating in an Alberta-wide initiative to gather input on housing and service needs in rural communities.

This work will primarily provide Chestermere with information on housing stability in the city as well as what factors are contributing to the housing instability faced by some community members.

This information is important because issues with housing are often very hidden in rural communities. It is rare to see people sleeping outside in communities like Chestermere, however, this does not mean all people living in Chestermere have stable, safe, and secure housing.

To gather the information that will allow us to understand housing and social needs in Chestermere, participating organizations will be offering surveys from November 1 – December 1, 2020.

The results of this survey will be analyzed and prepared in a report by the Alberta Rural Development Network in Spring 2021. These results will be used to prepare a plan to address housing insecurity and other identified service needs in Chestermere.

If you would like to take the survey or have questions about the project, please contact one of the participating agencies using the information below.
