Host an Event in Chestermere
How to Plan your Event in 3 Easy Steps
1. Choose your Event Type
Not Sure What Type of Event You Are Hosting? Contact the City’s Event Office before proceeding with your application. It is the event organizer’s responsibility to identify the event type and associated deadline, and we can help you with this in advance.
- Note: Recreational Programs (inquiries to book a soccer field, ball diamond for team sports or pocket parks for fitness programs) and Block Parties are not considered special events and do not fall under this process.
Simple Event
A social gathering to host picnics, birthday parties, or other social events in City parks and green spaces, regardless of expected attendance. Gatherings of 200+ people may require a special event permit. Park bookings are available May to September.
List of parks available for these types of events:
- John Peake Park
- Sunset Beach
- Rainbow Falls
- Anniversary Park does not take park bookings
- Cove Beach does not take park bookings
Parades, Runs & Walks
Organizers must obtain approval from the City for any parade, run or walk with more than 50 participants gathered as a group on the street or sidewalk, or as any group of 10 or more vehicles.
Please note that an ERP (Emergency Response Plan) and Site Map / Route will be required with your application.
Special Events & Festivals
A gathering, event or festival that includes one of the following, regardless of expected attendance.
- The event will be selling or serving food to the public;
- The event will be using sound amplification (e.g., speakers, megaphone);
- The event will require the construction/installation of tents or stages more than 60m2 (645 sq. ft.)
- The event will be selling or serving alcohol;
- The event will have amusement type rides and games (i.e., inflatables);
- The event is accepting donations, fundraising, running a lottery, draw or raffle;
- The event will have fireworks;
- The use of generators in the park.
Please note that an ERP (Emergency Response Plan) and Site Map / Route will be required with your application.
2. Complete your application

Once you have completed your form, you can email it to events@chestermere.ca.
3. Pay your $25 booking fee
Call the City of Chestermere City Hall at 403-207-7050 to pay your fee.
THE BOOKING FEE IS NON-REFUNDABLE. APPLYING FOR AN EVENT DOES NOT GUARANTEE THAT YOUR EVENT WILL BE APPROVED. The City assumes no liability if an event is not approved — Selling tickets, advertising, gaining sponsorship and other activities done prior to event approval is done at the risk of the event organizer.

Possible Event Funding
Community Grant Program: This grant is to support community organizations that facilitate local activities which enhance amenities in sports and recreation, arts, culture, history and projects that promote the social well being of the residents of Chestermere.
Community Initiative Program: We recommend Organizers review and apply for the provincial program.
