Councillor Yvette Kind (Wagner)

Yvette is a 30 year professional paralegal and works full time in a large law firm environment where she is part of the management team.  She is a member of the Alberta Association of Professional Paralegals and the Canadian Association of Paralegals.

Yvette was raised in Calgary (Forest Lawn area) and was biking out to Chestermere when the population was less than 1,000 and 17th Avenue was the road less travelled.  All of her siblings/their families live in Chestermere and have for over 30 years.

Community Involvement

Yvette has spent her lifetime volunteering, starting at age 18 for youth softball (Forest Heights Community) and continuing on as a Big Sister for many years.  She has held multiple roles, some of which included school councils, football associations (including Chestermere Chiefs), Referee in Chief for minor hockey, Ride to Conquer Cancer, Girls Outdoor Adventure Leadership, etc.

Raising her children with a sense of serving others has been paramount so washing dishes for hours on end, preparing/serving/cleaning up after meals for residents at multiple facilities (including The Dream Centre and Inn from the Cold) have been a part of their lives for many years.  Most recently, her/her boys volunteered for Circle the Wagons (Sept. 2017) but she maintains that their greatest volunteer efforts are those that lie closest to home; being the single mom who needs a babysitter or the community volunteer who needs her house cleaned or the senior citizen who regularly needs a young man to assist with carrying her garbage.

Yvette believes that identifying needs within our own residential areas or community and finding ways to meet those needs as an individual/family/community is equally as important as the larger, more prominent volunteer efforts.

Yvette ran for council because she believed she could make a bigger difference on the inside of City Hall than the outside and she plans to be part of the overall improvement on communication and promotion of unity among our community.  She is excited and honored to be acting on behalf of the people of Chestermere for the next 4 years, with the goal of ensuring a safer, more affordable, well cared for and sustainable city.
