UPDATE July 27, 10:15 p.m.:
At 8:41 p.m. Chestermere RCMP with the help of Chestermere Fire Services, the Western Cadaver Dog Association, and the Central Alberta Rescue Diving Society, recovered the body of the missing person in Chestermere Lake.
The 47-year-old Calgary resident will be taken to the medical examiner’s office this evening. Family of the deceased has been notified and victim services are engaged.
The City Boat Launch will reopen at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, and Anniversary Beach will reopen at 12 p.m. noon on Wednesday after required maintenance is completed.

UPDATE July 27, 11:40 a.m.: The investigation is ongoing, and an underwater team will be joining emergency personnel this afternoon to assist. Please continue to avoid the area as the beach at Anniversary Park and the City Boat Launch are currently closed.

On July 26, 2021 at approximately 3:00 pm Chestermere RCMP were called to a possible drowning. Two adult males were out swimming with a paddle board near Anniversary Beach in Chestermere Lake and fell into the water. Upon entering the water, both males began to struggle. Nearby swimmers at the beach were able to rescue one however, the other swimmer went under the water and has not been seen since.
Chestermere Fire Rescue and Chestermere RCMP boats were dispatched and remain on scene continuing the search.
The survivor has been taken to hospital by EMS as a precaution.
RCMP are with the family of the missing male. Identity is not being released at this time.
