During a Special Meeting on October 26, City Council asked Administration to return the speed limit on Chestermere Blvd. to 80 km/h.
Chestermere Community Operations crews will be replacing the 60 km/h speed limit signage with 80 km/h signs as soon as possible.
Chestermere RCMP and Community Peace Officers are reminding drivers that until the signs are replaced, the posted 60 km/h speed limit remains in effect.
Council also made an additional request to Administration to reprogram the traffic lights at Rainbow Road and Chestermere Blvd. to include a turning only sequence for eastbound and westbound traffic.
Administration will finalize traffic light reprogramming and sequencing with the new lights that will be installed at Rainbow Road and West Lakeview Drive.
Future plans for additional traffic lights at the intersections of Chestermere Blvd. and Merganser Drive and Range Road 284 will be discussed at future Council meetings in conjunction with future developments and Council’s intention to proceed with twinning Chestermere Blvd.
