A developing city like Chestermere requires its first responder presence to grow alongside its population. One of the City Council’s targets is ensuring firefighters, Peace Officers, and RCMP expands as needed to keep up with resident growth and required service levels. We’re delivering on our commitment to community safety with our recent approval to add more RCMP officers, and today with the addition of six new firefighters.
Adding these brave men and women to our team increases staffing levels around the clock and gives Chestermere Fire Services the ability to handle various calls quicker and more efficiently. It lets crews handle two calls at a time if needed, and be better prepared for larger issues and fires while focusing on firefighter safety and increased response times.
This highly trained new crew brings advanced care paramedic capability, primary car paramedic skills, and years of fire experience.
As part of this new class, the city proudly welcomes Chestermere’s first two full-time female firefighters.
We are truly excited to have this group join Fire Chief Coutts and the rest of our exceptional first responders. We have no doubt our city is in good, capable hands, and we look forward to working with them to advance our goal of protecting this vibrant, growing city.
We welcome them and wish them much safety and success!
