Starting Monday, Oct. 17, 2022, EPCOR crews will begin the yearly water main Unidirectional Flushing (UDF) service from hydrants throughout Chestermere's Westmere area. While it may be tempting to get a closer look, please stay clear as the crews work.
The yearly flushing of water mains by EPCOR crews helps keep Chestermere's tap water clean, clear and safe by allowing it to remove mineral deposits like sediment and silt and biological deposits like biofilm that build up over time.
Residents can expect temporary cloudy water or low water pressure for the flushing duration. Water to homes and businesses will be uninterrupted as water will not be turned off during the hydrant flushing. If cloudy water continues past the flushing, EPCOR recommends running cold tap water for approximately three to five minutes until it runs clear.
The following areas are included in the service this year:
- Springmere
- Oakmere
- Hawkmere
- Willowmere
- The commercial area surrounding Chestermere Station
- Marina Drive
- Parkmere
- Aspenmere
- Stonemere
- Lakepointe Drive
- Viewpoint
- Shoreline Vista
- Waterlily Cove
This year's flushing will occur on weekdays from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m, from Oct. 17 – 28. For more information on EPCOR's flushing program, visit chestermere.ca/water.
