Nancy Teghtmeyer’s two daughters Kayla and Alida have been coming to Water Festival since 2013 and love the musical entertainment and fireworks.
“My kids would never allow us to miss the fireworks; they are amazing every year,” says Nancy.
Chestermere’s annual Water Festival is a day to experience amazing moments with your children and enjoy some lakeside fun.
“We almost always get ice-cream, it’s a necessity on a hot summer day,” says Nancy.
After an exciting day in the sun checking out the wakeboard competition, kid’s games and vendor market, the family usually heads home for dinner.
After some time to wind down at home, they are back at it again around 6 or 7 p.m. in their pajama’s to listen to the bands and wait for the fireworks.
Oohing and aahing with big smiles on their face during the light show, Nancy says she’s usually carrying the girls’ home asleep.
The experience is quite similar for Chestermere resident Lesley Bentein, who is also a mom of two girls, Hailey & Leah.
Lesley says her one daughter’s favourite activities is watching ‘the guys with the jetpack on their back that fly around about the water’.
“The fireworks are a must with my girls! We traveled in for the fireworks from Calgary for several years before moving here,” says Lesley. “We always have a great time and can't believe how good they are in our own backyard, best enjoyed with fresh hot mini doughnuts of course,” says Lesley.
