On December 14, children ages 4 and up from all over Chestermere and the surrounding area can line up to see what is new and exciting at the Kids’ Holiday Store!
“The store is made just for kids so that they can pick out special gifts for their loved ones,” says Danielle Fermin, Manager of Community Support Services for the City of Chestermere. “Parents can register their children by purchasing gift tokens for $5 each.”
Fermin adds that kids can come prepared with their tokens and shopping lists and will be paired up with a Holiday Store Elf to help exchange their tokens for presents.
“Parents can enjoy many of the activities taking place outside the store until the little shoppers have checked everyone off their list,” adds Fermin. “Then the kids, with help from the Elves, wrap each gift to keep it a surprise until Christmas!”
The local community is also welcome to participate by donating new or ‘like new’ items suitable to be used as gifts for adults as well as children/youth for the Kids' Holiday Store event. Items can be brought to the following locations between Tuesday, November 12 and Tuesday, December 10:
• Chestermere City Hall (105 Marina Road)
• Chestermere Community Operations (281107 Township Road 243)
• Chestermere Public Library (105B Marina Road)
All of the proceeds from the children's purchases at the Kids' Holiday Store go to the Gifts of Kindness fund and are put towards providing basic needs support through the City of Chestermere's Family & Community Resource Centre programs.
Registration for the Kids’ Holiday Store will be available through Eventbrite starting on November 12. For full details and a schedule of events, visit chestermere.ca.holidaystore.
