Pursuant to the provisions of Section 692 of the Municipal Government Act, Chapter M-26 of the Revised Statutes of Alberta, 2000, and amendments thereto, the Council of the City of Chestermere is considering the proposed bylaws listed below.
A public hearing will be held on TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, 2020 for the below listed proposed bylaws. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, members of the public who wish to make representations are asked to do so in writing (preferred) or participate electronically through tele-conferencing. A new land use designation has been proposed to allow for a range of housing types that would be restricted to those who have reached the age of 55 – The Retirement Living Campus District (RLC). A proposal has also been made to redesignate 3.82 hectares (9.44 acres) of the Special Recreation (SPR) within the Kinniburgh area to the Retirement Living Campus District (RLC).
In order to accommodate this land use, each preceding statutory plan pertaining to the SPR site in Kinniburgh will be required to be amended.
Bylaw 021-20 An amendment to the Municipal Development Plan (MDP).
The purpose of this bylaw is to amend the MDP land use concept map from ‘Parks and Open Space’ to ‘Residential Neighbourhood’ to accommodate the proposed Retirement Living Campus district.

Bylaw 022-20 An amendment to the Southeast Chestermere Area Structure Plan (SECASP).
The purpose of this bylaw is to amend the SECASP land use concept map from ‘Open Space’ to ‘Residential’ in order to accommodate the proposed Retirement Living Campus.

Bylaw 023-20 An amendment to the Kinniburgh North Outline Plan (KNOP)
The purpose of this proposed amendment is to accommodate a Retirement Living Campus (RLC) district on 3.82 hectares (9.44 acres) of land which is currently designated as Special Recreation (SPR) within the Kinniburgh area.

Bylaw 024-20 An amendment to Land Use Bylaw 022-20, as amended. In particular, the amendment of Part 10 Land Use Districts with the addition of the following land use district:
Retirement Living Campus (RLC) - The purpose of this district is to create an “aging in place” community with a variety of residential dwelling forms at a range of price points, with a high standard of design and appearance. Communities within this District will be developed under condominium structures where residency is generally restricted to those who have reached the age of 55.
